When people speak of the "God of the Old Testament" they often call Him a 'tribal god' and say that he is mean and cruel. They speak of Him as if He is different than Jesus. What most do not understand is that God has not changed. Without a knowledge of the Old Testament people make such asinine statements about the character of God. God had blessings for His people, for the taking. He wasn't, and isn't, cruel. He is loving, beneficent, and merciful. But like most of us, Israel was disobedient, unfaithful, and disloyal (and we call Him cruel). Listen and gain some understanding of the True Character of Our God.
