Hardly anybody likes the God of the old testament. People often say he is mean and those who preach and teach the precepts contained therein are accused of being ”too negative.” Well, those who teach these things are in good company, because this is what others thought of Jeremiah. Israel’s calling from God was a call to holiness, to be set apart for his glory and his use. But Israel was determined to set their own standard and continued to engage in whoredoms contrary to God’s calling. What does this have to do with you? Everything. If God has called you, it is to a life of holiness according to his word. But do you remain in your whoredoms? Learn how it really looks to God when we remain in our selfish ways.
