By definition, an ultimatum is a demand whose fulfillment is requested in a specified period of time and which is backed up by a threat to be followed through in case of noncompliance. By our culture, we have made this a bad word. But giving ultimatums is exactly what God is doing in this seventh chapter of Jeremiah. On the other hand, he is also giving blessings to those who comply with His demands. Sometimes ultimatums are the thing that compels us to make a decision.Other times it is the promise of a blessing that draws us to good. It all depends on where your heart is. Has someone warned you of God’s ultimatums and you felt it was too negative to comply? Have you heard about the blessings God offers and it’s not enough to make you change? Check your heart by this message.
