His answer to the confrontation is often in the form of a question or an illustration that is tailored specifically to the folly of the attacker. Never does he retreat. Matthew presents Jesus as lowly king who comes in with a humble procession. A righteous high priest who comes into the temple zealously removing the ungodly from His Father’s house. He also presents Jesus as the Unfailing Prophet whose words will not fall to the ground and fail to be fulfilled.
